The Walgreens Map You Can't Unsee.......Why Instant Access to Data Matters

The other day I was testing a new feature in DealGround when I stumbled onto something wild.
I was just poking around searching for Walgreens stores in Florida.
The map lit up like the sky on the 4th of July.
Over 800 stores across the state.
Zooming into the Orlando MSA (and surrounding areas) — roughly 4.5 million people — I counted 216 Walgreens locations (see image below). That seemed high to me, so I ran the same search in Southern California. I zoomed in on the Los Angeles MSA (including most of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) which has a population of approximately 15.835 million people. (*see footnote for population calculations).
Same result: 216 stores (second image).
Central Florida: one Walgreens per 20,833 people.
LA: one Walgreens per 73,310 people.
Central Florida has 3.5x the density of Walgreens per capita as the second largest MSA in the United States!
Let that sink in.
You can literally walk from almost every Walgreens to another Walgreens in Orlando in under five minutes. No exaggeration. That’s crazy.

If you’ve been following the pharmacy space, you already know big changes are coming. This is a storm that’s been brewing for years. Oversaturated market presence, high occupancy costs, shrinking margins, and online fulfillment creating competition that the legacy operators can’t combat have combined to create an industry death spiral.
Now, when you see it — visually — it’s impossible to unsee.
That map foretells a prophecy: many property owners are about to get crushed.
This random Walgreens experiment reinforces my belief that speed to insight = speed to opportunity. Simple visual analysis, profound realization.
Here’s where it gets fun.
Once I saw that Walgreens cluster, I immediately started asking myself “What other opportunities can I search for?”
With DealGround’s expanded tenant dataset, I can run similar searches across any brand — say, every Taco Bell in Colorado — then filter for sites on 30,000+ square feet of land that haven’t traded since 2018. That’s pretty awesome.
The brokers and investors who can see market data visually — and act on these discovered insights — are going to spot opportunities much further upstream.
DealGround gives you that edge. Do in seconds what used to take hours, days, or weeks.
Unlimited insight, instantly.
Your opportunity is limited only by your creativity.
Happy hunting. LFG!
* Footnote on population calculations:
- CA - Adding the populations of the Los Angeles MSA, Riverside County (minus the population of the Coachella Valley), and the cities of San Bernardino, Fontana, Ontario, Victorville, and Hesperia.
- FL - Adding the populations of the Orlando MSA, the cities of Lakeland, Ocala, the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach MSA, and Palm Bay–Melbourne–Titusville MSA
